Police have released security camera images of a suspect after a man was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds following an incident near Exhibition Place.

Police said the shooting occurred in the area of Manitoba Drive and Quebec Street, shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Monday.

The victim appeared to have been shot several times in the leg. He then walked to a nearby paramedics' station, and was rushed to hospital.

Police said they are searching for a suspect considered to be "armed and dangerous."

The suspect has been decribed as a black man between the ages of 20 and 25, with a medium build and short black hair. He is approximately 5-foot-7, and was wearing a black, shiny, puffy jacket, dark jeans, black and red shoes, a red shirt and gold chains.
