All lanes of Highway 400 were re-opened Friday afternoon, after a tractor trailer crashed through a guardrail near Alliston, Ont., forcing the closure of all southbound and northbound lanes for nearly an hour.

The tractor trailer was heading northbound on Highway 400 when it blew a tire, said Ontario Provincial Police. The truck crashed through the median guardrail and went into the southbound lanes, said police.

A heavy tow truck was called to clear the highway.

The collision, which occurred just south of Highway 89, stalled cottage-goers who were heading up north for the holiday long weekend.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
