Toronto Police are notifying the public that a "high-risk" offender is getting out of prison after serving a two-year sentence.

In a statement issued Monday morning, police said the sex crimes unit was issuing the notice because of his potential to "violently reoffend."

Simon William Gares, 34, will be living in Toronto. He served two years in prison for two counts of threatening death, theft, assault with intent to resist arrest, and failure to comply with probation.

"During the investigation, he made non-specific threats related to the safety of children attending elementary schools," the statement said.

As part of his probation conditions, the man is not permitted to be within 500 metres of Bayview and Moore Avenues, possess any weapons, consume any alcohol or unlawful drugs.
