Toronto Public Health is warning residents about a possible measles exposure on a flight into Toronto’s Pearson International Airport last week.

Health officials say passengers on board two separate Eva Air flights on May 8 may have been exposed to the disease.

Passengers on board flight BR0272 travelling from the Philippines to Taiwan and flight BR36 travelling from Taiwan to Pearson Airport may be at risk.

Toronto Public Health says that while the risk to passengers is low, anyone who was on these flights should monitor their health for measles symptoms including high fever, coughing and sore eyes.

Other symptoms include a runny nose, sensitivity to light and a red rash lasting for four to seven days.

Officials are also asking people to check their immunization records to make sure they are up to date with their measles vaccinations.

Infants under the age of one year, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems are particularly susceptible to the disease.

Anyone showing measles symptoms should contact their health care provider immediately.
