The City of Brampton has apologized to a dog owner after his seven-month-old pet got covered in red paint while marking a fire hydrant.

According to the owner, his Shih Tzu, Louie, spotted the bright red fire hydrant in the Springdale area recently. The eager pooch marked the hydrant and got something in return: a bright red streak of red on his white coat.

The owner told CP24 the hydrant did not have a sign indicating it was recently painted. He said after bathing Louie, its coat was pink.

The City of Brampton has since apologized to the owner, but did not pay for a grooming, the owner said.
