A 74-year-old woman is in critical condition in hospital after she was pulled from an apartment building blaze in Newmarket, Ont. Monday morning.
Firefighters were called to 735 Stonehaven Ave., near Kingsmere Avenue, at 8:30 a.m. They found the woman on the third floor lying on the ground without vital signs, but were able to resuscitate her using CPR.
Neighbours have identified the victim as a woman named Mary who is in her 70s.
The fire is believed to have started in the living room of her apartment, unit 304. It was contained to the suite, and no other injuries have been reported.
