Peel police say they have arrested a man on impaired driving charges after his vehicle crashed into a Mississauga home on Saturday night.

The male driver was taken into custody shortly after 10 p.m. after a car crashed into the garage of a home on Barondale Drive, in the area of Hurontario Street and Matheson Boulevard.

Two vehicles parked inside the garage were damaged during the collision.

Ahmed Abdul Ahmid, 19, faces multiple charges, including impaired driving and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

The male driver was assessed by paramedics at the scene, but was not taken to hospital.

No other injuries were reported as a result of the collision, but Mississauga firefighters said the home sustained “severe damage,” including a water leak in the basement.

Ahmid is set to appear in court on Oct. 13.
