The discovery of human remains in a duffel bag on a trail in the city’s north end on Friday could be linked to a second crime scene downtown, CTV Toronto has learned.
Police discovered the remains of a woman near the Black Creek flood control channel near Weston Road.
CTV Toronto has learned that a second scene on Shuter Street may also be connected to this investigation. Police investigated an apartment on Shuter Street and are looking at security camera video footage from the area.
A resident found the woman’s remains in a black duffel bag while he was walking through the ravine.
“A death smell hit me in the face,” he told CTV Toronto.
After opening the bag, he knew something wasn’t right.
“I’m helping somebody…Somebody’s missing somebody out there right now,” he said he told himself. “I guess I found them.”
Officers conducted a grid search and sealed off and removed three garbage dumpsters from the area.
Homicide police are now trying to determine the identity of the victim and how she was murdered.
