A 31-year-old man has been charged with assault after an incident involving a cab driver and a cyclist in downtown Toronto in August.

A cyclist and a taxi driver were both heading northbound on Bay Street, near Gerrard Street West just after 5:45 p.m. on Aug. 18, according to police.

The cyclist reached into the cab, police said, and assaulted the driver. They both then continued on Bay Street and the cyclist was struck by the taxi north of Saint Mary Street.

The cyclist suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

A video of the incident was released on YouTube shortly afterward. The video shows a cyclist banging on the back of the taxi. The taxi then swerves into the cyclist, who falls over onto the sidewalk.

Police said Sunday the cyclist has now been charged in addition to the driver, who was charged last month.

Brampton resident Baldeep Cheema has been charged with assault and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 17.

On Aug. 25 the taxi driver, who police identified as Thornhill resident Ali Farkhondehfall, was charged with assault with a weapon and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

He is also scheduled to appear in court in October.
