Toronto's iconic former restaurant Captain John's is expected to embark on its final voyage Thursday morning.

The rustic relic, which was sold to the Marine Recycling Corporation earlier this month, will be towed from the Toronto Harbour to Port Colborne, Ont., located along Lake Erie, where it will be recycled.

Crews began dismantling parts of the dilapidated ship last week to prepare the former floating restaurant for the trip.

Thursday's move is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. Crews will release the ship from its current position along a dockwall at the foot of Yonge Street. Once released, the ship will be turned 90 degrees in the inner harbour, before passing through the Eastern Gap between Wards Island and the western edge of the Port Lands.

Ports Toronto expects this process to take between an hour to 90 minutes.
