More than 2,600 privately-sponsored Syrian refugees will settle in Toronto, according to data from the federal government.

The Government of Canada has released a map showing where privately-sponsored Syrian refugees will be settled across the country. The map shows 2,602 of the refugees will settle in downtown Toronto, North York, Etobicoke and Scarborough.

The government said it is "actively processing" 4,511 files of privately-sponsored Syrian refugees across Canada, outside of Quebec. The website said 74 of the refugees have already arrived in Canada.

Decisions have not been finalized, but the map represents communities were private sponsors have made applications for refugees.

According to the map, 1,326 will be in the downtown and midtown area. Another 1,079 will settle in Willowdale. Twenty-three will live in North York, 18 will live in Etobicoke and 156 will live in Scarborough.

North of the city, fewer than five will be in Vaughan, 11 will be in Maple, 33 will be in Thornhill and 15 will be in Markham. Seven will be in Woodbridge and nine will be in Concord.

To the east, fewer than five will arrive in Pickering and Ajax, and five are expected in Stouffville.

West of Toronto, 18 are expected in Brampton and 68 are expected in Mississauga.
