The Toronto Transit Commission has taken unspecified disciplinary action against a bus driver who was captured on video eating chips and resting his foot on the dashboard while behind the wheel.

The video, which was sent to CP24 on Tuesday, was taken by a 17-year-old high school student who was riding the 34A bus eastbound on Eglinton Avenue near Mount Pleasant Road.

In the video, the driver is seen munching on chips while using his right wrist to steer the bus. His left foot is also seen resting on the vehicle’s dashboard.

On Thursday, TTC Spokesperson Brad Ross confirmed to CP24 that officials with the transit commission met the driver and interviewed him in the wake of being made aware of the incident on Tuesday.

Ross said the driver was disciplined at that time, though he refused to say precisely what action was taken.

“We are disappointed at the action of this one individual,” Ross said. “There are clear rules that operators have to follow and we don’t allow eating while the vehicle is in motion.”

According to Ross, the driver remains an employee of the TTC.
