When the Toronto Blue Jays shipped out Brett Lawrie on November 28, one six-year old fan was devastated and her tearful reaction was posted on YouTube by her father.

On Friday, a surprise visit from Lawrie managed to put a smile back on her face.

The Canadian third baseman shared photos of his lunch date at Boston Pizza with his fan, who he calls Amelia.

Lawrie was traded to the Oakland Athletics along with three minor league prospects for All-Star third baseman Josh Donaldson.

No one took the trade harder than Amelia, who was torn between her attachment to the Jays and her loyalty to Lawrie.

"I don't want to cheer for a different team," she manages to say in between sobs in the video posted to YouTube.

"That guy is going to be too good."

The emotional outburst went viral, garnering almost 200,000 views, including Lawrie who seemed grateful for the support.

"What an amazing moment," he wrote on Twitter.

"So cool and privileged to meet this lady."

Lawrie's energetic play and all-out attitude won over Blue Jays fans in four seasons with the club. However, the 24-year-old battled injuries, sitting out 184 games over three years due to various injuries.

Lawrie was drafted in the first round of the 2008 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. In 2010, the Jays sent pitcher Shaun Marcum to Milwaukee in exchange for the Langley B.C. native.

During his tenure with the club, Lawrie batted .265 with 43 home runs and 157 RBIs.
