A 45-year-old Brampton high school teacher is now facing charges after police allege he had a sexual relationship with a then 16-year-old student.
According to investigators, the teacher and the female student, who is now 17 years old, both attended Heartlake Secondary School, located in the area of Conestoga and Bovaird drives.
After an investigation into the alleged relationship by Peel Regional Police Special Victims Unit, the teacher was arrested on Tuesday and charged with one count of sexual exploitation.
As well, a letter was posted on the school’s website by Principal Peter Koehnen informing students and families of the investigation.
“(The teacher) has been assigned to home since the allegations were made, and will remain assigned to home, pending the disposition of the charges,” Koehnen said. I know that it’s important to you, to feel confident that students are well cared for and protected while they are at school.”
“I take this responsibility seriously – we have policies and clear procedures to make sure students learn in a safe, secure environment.”
Douglas Dale appeared in court on Tuesday where he was released on bail.
