A Scarborough boy is pining for his beloved bicycle after an older teen pushed him off it in Scarborough's McGregor Park Sunday afternoon and rode away on the bike.

Brian Peterson, 15, is one of hundreds of people in the city who will have their bike stolen this year, but he has some other challenges to overcome.

Brian takes about half a dozen pills each day to control his epilepsy.

The bike was his "pride and joy," Brian said.

"That bike was something I could really enjoy doing," he told CTV News. "I liked to ride so much. Without it, I just, I don't really feel like going outside."

To make matters worse, Brian's mom, Denise Peterson, just lost her job. His father, Rick Peterson, is recovering from heart surgery.

Brian still has bruises from where his attacker punched him in the chest and arm during the attack, which occurred near Lawrence Avenue and Birchmount Road.

His mom said Brian didn't want to go outside for two days after his bike was stolen and the family was worried that he might have another seizure after the incident.

"Now the doctor has upped his medication again," she said.

She is left wondering why her son was targeted in this attack.

"You were bigger than him. He's younger. Why did you have to pick on him?" his mom asked.

The family filed a police report about the missing bike and hopes that the thief has the heart to return it.
