A 75-year-old woman was robbed of about $80,000-worth of jewelry while staying at a motel in Scarborough in June, according to police.

A security camera image of the suspect was released on Monday morning.

The incident occurred on June 17 at 9 a.m. at a motel located near Markham Road and Progress Avenue.

A woman was in the dining area of the motel when she briefly left her purse unattended, police said.

A man then stole the purse, which the woman estimated had $80,000-worth of jewelry inside of it.

The woman said she was travelling to Toronto for a family function and was taking a large amount of jewelry with her.

A security camera image captured a suspect and has been released by police.
