Scarborough family raising money after local soccer club goes belly up

A Scarborough family has set up a crowdfunding campaign to help raise money to support families who may not be able to re-register their child in a new soccer league after the Just for Kicks Soccer club went bankrupt. The league’s owner, Nick Voronka, emailed parents on Wednesday saying the club will not be able to refund parents their money.

Maple Leafs’ Jake Gardiner was the lone scorer for Toronto last night. The boys in blue lost 4-1 to the San Jose Sharks.

Jose Batista hit a home run yesterday, lifting the Toronto Blue Jays to a 6-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox. The Toronto franchise will be back on the field later today to play the Tamp Bay Rays. The game starts at 1:05 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors are in Chicago tonight to play the Bulls. Tip-off time is 8 p.m.
