Durham Regional police are asking for helping finding a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman while she waited for a GO bus in Ajax.
Police say the incident happened on July 18 at around 9: 30 p.m.
An 18-year-old woman was waiting for a bus at the Ajax Go Station on Westney Road South when a man approached her and started an unwanted conversation with her.
The woman told police the conversation became sexual in nature and was touched inappropriately.
According to police, the woman then headed toward the bus but stopped when she noticed the man had started a conversation with another female.
The woman told police she interrupted the conversation with the female before heading back toward the bus.
At that point, police say the man followed the woman onto the bus where she alerted the bus driver of the incident.
The driver did not allow the man to board the bus and the woman reported the incident to police the next day.
Police described the suspect as a male of South Asian descent who is 25 to 27 years old, approximately six-feet-fall with a slim build. He has short dark hair that is spiked in the front and a short cut goatee. He was last seen wearing a blue short-sleeved shirt with a collar, black pants.
According to investigators, the man stated that his name is “Jamal” and indicated he had a BMW car parked in a nearby lot.
Police are also appealing for the second female who engaged in a conversation with the suspect to contact them.
