A woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after falling six storeys from an apartment balcony in North York.

Toronto police said the woman, 30, fell from the balcony of a building located at 1 De Boers Dr., near Sheppard Avenue and Allen Road, at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Thursday.

When she fell, she landed on a glass awning extending from the building over a group of businesses on the ground level.

The woman lives in the condo building with her husband and young son. She is also believed to have a boyfriend.

The woman was brought back to her apartment on the sixth floor by her boyfriend, who lives elsewhere, police said.

She was examined by paramedics and rushed to a nearby hospital. The extent of her injuries is unclear, but police said she is in life-threatening condition.

Several neighbours who did not wish to be identified told CTV News that they heard arguing and crying in the condo unit before the woman fell from the balcony.

The woman’s boyfriend, husband and young son have all been interviewed by police as they try to piece together what happened.

Police said they are still investigating the cause of the fall, and are canvassing the area looking for witnesses.
