Police have identified Jonathan Stefan Khan, 21, and Shawn Chestnut-Reddick, 22, as the victims of the Danforth Avenue shooting on Wednesday night.

In a press release issued Thursday, police say they located the two men on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds outside of Mediterranean Social Club on Danforth Avenue at approximately 8:44 p.m.

They were taken to hospital and both died of their injuries.

Khan, who worked in construction, leaves behind a one-year-old daughter. His girlfriend of five years and mother of his child fought back tears when she arrived at the small memorial set up for the two men on the sidewalk of Danforth Ave.

"We grew up together. We played ball together. He's very smart, funny and outgoing. He cared about a lot of people," Jamal Whitley, Khan's friend, told CTV Toronto.

A suspect may have fled in a vehicle seen heading east on Danforth Avenue, Toronto Police Const. Victor Kwong told CP24.

It is unclear whether there was more than one shooter, and no one has been arrested so far.

A post-mortem examination has been scheduled for Friday.
