Toronto police are searching for suspects after a man was shot in the face on Monday afternoon.

Police were called to an apartment building at 121 Humber Blvd., a Toronto Community Housing Corporation residence in the Black Creek Drive and Weston Road area, shortly after 12:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from three gunshot wounds, including one to the face and one to the abdomen. Police say there was a dispute in front of the TCHC building when he was shot.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, was rushed to a nearby trauma centre, paramedics said. He is being treated for serious injuries, but is expected to recover, police say.

Police told media they believed there was only one shooter, but said that they're looking for two suspects. They have not yet released descriptions of the suspects, but said that the suspects fled in a silver vehicle.

Nearby schools Archbishop Romero Catholic Secondary School and Rockcliffe Middle School were temporarily placed into a hold-and-secure after the shooting as a precaution. They were lifted shortly after 3 p.m.
