TORONTO - The Special Investigations Unit says it has had a Toronto cop charged with sexual assault relating to an incident in early June.
Toronto police contacted the SIU on June 3, 2010, regarding a woman's allegations of a sexual nature against a police officer.
Const. Mandip Sandhu has been arrested and charged with one count of sexual assault and is to appear in court on Dec. 2.
The SIU says it can give no other details of the case while it is before the courts.
The SIU is an arm's length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
