TORONTO -- The Progressive Conservatives say they'll ask the head of the Ontario Provincial Police to testify before a committee examining the province's troubled air ambulance service.

Tory Frank Klees says he wants to know what's happening in the criminal investigation of Ornge, which has been underway for a year.

He says he also wants to know if the government plans to recover any money from Ornge's for-profit subsidiaries.

Klees says documents show Ornge took out a $10-million life insurance policy on former CEO Chris Mazza.

He says the publicly funded company deposited nearly half a million dollars in one of its subsidiaries to pay the insurance premiums.

Klees says he believes the money may still be there and the government should go after it.

Auditor general Jim McCarter found that Ornge received $730 million from the health ministry over five years -- and borrowed $300 million more -- with virtually no government oversight.

Other documents tabled with the all-party committee showed that Mazza received $1.2 million in loans in a single year, in addition to his high salary.
