Teen girl in critical condition after being struck by pick-up truck in Scarborough

A teenage girl is in critical condition after an elderly man driving a pick-up truck struck her in Scarborough on Wednesday morning.

Toronto Police said they were called to the area of Blakemanor and Markham roads, located east of Bellamy Road, around 7:15 a.m.

Officers said the 84-year-old was driving northbound on Markham Road in a 2012 Ford pick-up truck while the 16-year-old girl was crossing the street.

Police said she was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and that the senior remained on the scene.

Investigators are asking anyone with information, including footage of the incident, to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
