A 17-year-old Vaughan resident has been charged in connection with a deadly crash that claimed the lives of two teenagers last month.
The teen, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death and three counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, York Regional Police said Thursday.
He was scheduled to appear in court Thursday for a bail hearing.
Joshua Ferreira, 16, and Tatiana Sousa, 15, were killed when the car they were in left the roadway and crashed in the area of Teston Road and Pine Valley Drive in Vaughan on Oct. 24.
Police said four other occupants of the car, all males, were taken to hospital with various injuries. Two passengers have since been released from hospital.
The driver of the vehicle turned himself to police on Thursday, after he was released from hospital.
