Two of three suspects wanted in connection with a stabbing on the first day of school have turned themselves in to police.
On Wednesday morning, more than a week after the stabbing at Central Technical School, police confirmed that two of the three suspects walked into Toronto Police's 14 Division and surrendered.
They were detained at approximately 7 a.m. A detective at the division told reporters that the pair were questioned by police, and then arrested.
"In custody we have a 17-year-old male and a 20-year-old male," Det. Jessica McInnis said Wednesday.
McInnis said both suspects are facing charges of assault, aggravated assault, carrying a concealed weapon, weapons dangerous, and assault with a weapon.
Police are still looking for a third suspect, and said they anticipate his arrest "shortly."
The stabbing took place at the high school located at 725 Bathurst St. just south of Bloor Street, on the afternoon of Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Police said a 19-year-old was on the property when he approached three unknown men.
McInnis said it appears that the 19-year-old tried to intervene while the suspects attempted to rob two other males of their cellphones. The victim was then stabbed in the abdomen and the hand. He suffered a collapsed lung.
Police released security camera photos of three men believed to be involved, hoping to identify the men shown in the footage. They have since said that one of the suspects is a minor, and cannot be identified. McInnis said the suspects were not students at the school.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information in the case is asked to contact police at 416-808-1404, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477 (TIPS).
