Police now believe the suspect of a sexual assault at Bloor-Yonge Station Friday night may be the same man accused of sexually assaulting girls in midtown over the last few weeks.
On Sept. 16, a woman was transferring from the Yonge line platform to the Bloor line platform at around 8:25 p.m. As she walked down the stairs to the Bloor platform, she was sexually assaulted.
A witness confronted the man following the alleged assault, police said, but the man fled the scene quickly and disappeared into a crowd of people exiting the subway cars.
Police believe the same man is involved in a series of sex assaults along Yonge Street that began on Sept. 2, Const. Caroline de Kloet told CTV Toronto Monday.
“We have very good images of this man and we hope that somebody can identify him,” de Kloet said. “These two cases with the two different pictures we do believe is the same individual.”
Investigators said the man waits in the Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue area until it becomes busy with pedestrian traffic. He then approaches girls between 13 and 16-years-old before disappearing into the crowd.
The times of the assaults in this area varied, according to de Kloet, with some occurring at 8 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The suspect is described as white, between 25 and 35 years old, about five-foot-seven with a medium build and brown hair. In a security camera image captured on Sept. 16, he was seen wearing a pink dress shirt, dark trousers and black dress shoes.
Police are concerned that there could be other victims who have not yet come forward.
