Toronto police say a suspect accused of murder in the death of 21-year-old Anthony Smith has turned himself in to police.

Smith was gunned down on King Street West, near Portland Street, on March 28th. He succumbed to his injuries in hospital. His friend was also shot but survived his injuries.

It is believed the man was involved in an altercation at Loki nightclub before the shooting took place. At the time, police said they were looking at video footage from surveillance cameras in the area for evidence.

Police held a news conference on Wednesday to name the suspect publicly.

Nisar Hashimi, 23, faces a first-degree murder charge in connection with the case. He is also charged with attempted murder while using a firearm.
