Two years after Mariam Makhniashvili disappeared from her Forest Hill school, some residents of a Toronto neighbourhood are saying they've seen a girl who resembles the missing teen.

CTV received a tip from a viewer late Tuesday night who said that a young woman who looks like Makhniashvili was seen at a Scarborough McDonalds around 9:30 p.m.

On Sept. 14, 2009, Makhniashvili walked to Forest Hill Collegiate Institute with her brother George and told him she was going to her first-period class through the school's front door.

The then 17-year-old hasn't been seen since.

The case, which has been featured on the U.S. show America's Most Wanted, has prompted hundreds of tips and unconfirmed sightings. A few witnesses have claimed to have seen her in rural Alberta.

On Wednesday, some locals told CTV Toronto that they've seen a girl who looks like Makhniashvili walking along the sidewalks in the Victoria Park Avenue and St. Clair Avenue area.

The owner of a No Frills in the area said that he had definitely seen the girl.

"I've seen her walk at this intersection and I've also seen her in this store too," he said.

The area is less than a 22-minute drive from where the teen went missing.

Police said that they are aware of this latest potential sighting and will be reviewing security footage.
