Canada's first stand-up roller coast will loop around its tracks for the last time on Labour Day before permanently going out of service, a spokesperson for Canada's Wonderland announced on Wednesday.
After nearly 23 million rides, SkyRider will no longer be an attraction at the Vaughan, Ont., amusement park.
"As the park evolves each year, we continue to focus on future park enhancements that will provide our guests with innovative entertainment and leisure experiences," Norm Pirtovshek, the general manager at Canada's Wonderland, said in statement. "After creating 29 years of memories for our guests, we wanted to make sure thrill seekers of all ages had advance notice of the SkyRider retirement."
SkyRider is considered the first stand-up roller coaster to be built in in Canada, and the second one with a loop in the world, according to the amusement park. Thrill seekers first got a taste of the ride's heart palpitating descent in May 1985.
The ride will officially retire on Sept. 1 at 8 p.m.
