Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of the GTA. The warning includes Newmarket, Georgina and Northern York Region.
Environment Canada says a severe thunderstorm in those areas could produce hail as large as two to three centimetres, winds of 90 kilometres per hour and heavy downpours.
The warning also includes Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Pickering, Oshawa, southern Durham Region, Uxbridge, Beaverton and northern Durham Region.
Severe Thunderstorm watches are also in effect for Mississauga, Brampton, Halton Hills, Caledon and Milton
People in these areas should stay tuned for further weather updates, Environment Canada says.
