As a school community continues to mourn the loss of a well-liked high school rugby player, police say it may take several weeks to determine the exact cause of death.

Additional tests are needed to confirm what killed 15-year-old Manny Castillo during a fight at the end of a rugby match on Wednesday, investigators told CTV's Jim Junkin after an autopsy on Saturday.

The popular teenager's family hasn't finalized funeral arrangements, but they are hoping the service can be held on Monday.

Castillo died Friday at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children from a severe head injury sustained during a game in Mississauga between his Lorne Park Secondary School teammates and Erindale Secondary School.

A dispute broke out in the final seconds of the match, outside of normal play, Peel Region police said.

Detectives have charged a 16-year-old Erindale player with aggravated assault, which could be upgraded to manslaughter.

A vigil was held at the Lorne Park school field on Friday, as friends gathered to mourn the loss and pay tribute to Castillo.

Spartan jerseys, flowers, candles and notes remain there as a memorial to the teenager.

"It's sad. I'm also a parent, I have a son. There are no words to describe it," said Mar Estioko.

"The other child involved, that wasn't the end result he was looking for -- I'm sure it was an accident," said parent John Boffin. "But at the same time you have to be careful how one lapse in judgment can have a profound effect on the lives of many people."

Friends have also created an online tribute for Castillo through the networking website Facebook.com.

Castillo's parents decided to donate their son's organs. They said they will not comment to the media until after the funeral.
