A subway closure and Halloween party will make getting downtown more difficult this weekend.

Events closures

Church Street will be closed between Alexander and Gloucester Streets for the annual Halloween party, from 6:30 p.m. on Friday to 3 a.m. on Saturday. Pedestrian traffic is expected to spill over on Wellesley and Maitland Streets where they intersect with Church.

Howland Road will be closed off between Victor and Langley Avenues from noon to midnight on Friday.

Toronto Police and other GTA forces are warning drivers to be extra careful on residential roads on Friday, keeping an eye out for children trick-or-treating.

All weekend, the south curb lane of Shuter Street and north curb lane of Queen Street will be blocked between Jarvis and Sherbourne Streets. The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada group will be performing military exercises from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Lake Shore Boulevard closures

The westbound passing lane will be occupied from Rees Street to Van De Water Crescent by tunnel construction from 9 a.m. to midnight every day until the end of February 2015.

Two westbound lanes will be closed between Lower Jarvis and York Streets from 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. due to repairs on the Gardiner above, every day until Nov. 5.

The westbound right lane will be occupied at Parliament Street until Nov. 30 for rehabilitation of the overpass.

Major road closures

The TTC and the City of Toronto have started long-term track, water main and road work on Bathurst Street, at Wolseley Street and Dundas St. West. Full details of the closure are available online. 

TTC closures and diversions

All trains on Line 1 (Yonge-University-Spadina) will be turning back northbound at Eglinton Station and southbound at Bloor-Yonge Station on Saturday and Sunday.

Davisville, St Clair and Rosedale Stations will remain open for fare transactions and connecting bus routes. Summerhill Station will be closed.

Shuttle buses will be running frequently abover ground between Eglinton and Bloor.
