TORONTO - A neighbourhood basketball court in Toronto that was torn up when a police cruiser drove through it will be getting patched up this morning.

The multi-coloured tiles of the court in the city's northwest were ripped up on Tuesday night when a police cruiser rolled through it in pursuit of a suspect.

A camera-phone video later posted to YouTube shows the vehicle lurching forwards and backwards across the court.

The cruiser's wheels left a long gash where the tiles once laid, with the ride-and-blue squares strewn about.

Constable Wendy Drummond says the officers in the cruiser were part of the force's anti-violence squad and weren't normally assigned to that area.

She says volunteers, including officers and community members, will work to fix the court.
