Toronto police are searching for a male suspect after a woman was stabbed in North York on Monday evening.

Police said they received a call at about 6 p.m. about a stabbing at an apartment at 940 Caledonia Road, in the Lawrence Avenue West and Dufferin Street area.

The woman suffered multiple stab wounds in the chest, stomach and leg areas and was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital, according to police. The woman is expected to survive.

Officers spent part of the evening searching the apartment building but have not yet found the suspect.
