Police have issued a warrant for a Toronto man after he allegedly stabbed a woman and escaped from a 15th-floor balcony Saturday afternoon.

According to police, the 33-year-old suspect stabbed a woman multiple times in the abdomen after a dispute in an apartment on the city's west end. Investigators say the suspect escaped from the apartment by climbing down to the 14th-floor balcony.

The 23-year-old victim, whose mother was home at the time of the stabbing, suffered non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to Sunnybrook hospital.

Officers were called shortly after 2 p.m. to an apartment building at 2 Armel Ct., north of Albion and Weston Roads.

Police say that the victim's brother, Anh Tuan Nguyen, is a suspect in the stabbing.

According to investigators, the brother may have a history of mental illness.
