TORONTO - A 17-year-old has been charged with attempted murder after another teen was stabbed in east Toronto Friday night.

Police say the victim, also 17, suffered life threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect tried to steal the victim's cellphone and then stabbed him several times after he refused to give it to him.

The victim was stabbed in the face, neck, chest and back and one of the wounds was very close to his heart.

Police say the two 17-year-old males were known to each other.

The accused is also charged with robbery and two counts of assault with intent to resist arrest.
