Toronto police have yet to locate two male suspects who fled the scene of a RIDE check and are accused of taking part in a carjacking in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police pulled over a car that had tried to avoid a RIDE check near the intersection of Palmdale Drive and Sheppard Avenue East, west of Warden Avenue, just after 1 a.m.

But two men jumped out of the car and fled the scene on foot.

Inside the car was a woman who told police her car had been hijacked, Const. Wendy Drummond told ctvtoronto.ca.

ETF squad members and police dogs searched for the two suspects, but were unable to locate them, Drummond said. It is believed that the suspects shed their outer clothes as they ran so they could not be identified.

The woman told police that the two men jumped into her car at a gas station near Kennedy Road and Finch Avenue East.

Police found a shotgun in the car following the alleged carjacking, Drummond said.

The woman was uninjured.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 416-808-4200, or to call Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
