Police arrested a woman who allegedly broke into an apartment in Toronto's Parkdale neighbourhood and repeatedly stabbed a victim last month.

Officers say they were called to the area of Queen Street West and Beaty Avenue shortly after 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 27.

Police say the accused woman allegedly broke into the apartment and stabbed the victim "multiple times," which sent the victim to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. They add she ran away after.

It is unclear if the suspect and victim know each other.

On Tuesday, Toronto Police charged 43-year-old Megan Coote with various charges, including three counts each of assault with a weapon and break and enter commit, and six counts of disobey lawful order of court. The charges have not been tested in court.

Police are asking anyone with information to call them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
