Peel police searching for Welland, Ont. man allegedly involved in Brampton hotel shooting
Peel police are asking for help to find a Welland, Ont. man wanted in connection with a hotel shooting in Brampton at the start of the year.
Peel Regional Police say a woman in her 20s was shot at a hotel on Nexus Avenue near Fogal Road in Brampton on Jan. 25, 2024.
The woman's injuries were not life threatening according to police and the shooter was not known to her.
Police have now issued an arrest warrant for 25-year-old Niyo Tyrese Hill from Welland. He is wanted on multiple charges including assault with a weapon, robbery, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Investigators say that while looking for Hill, a search warrant at a home in Welland found a loaded illegal Glock 20 handgun. Methamphetamine was also found, and police arrested 27-year-old Nikkita Clarke-Banks on multiple drug and weapons charges.
If anyone sees Hill, police say he should not be approached and 911 should be called.
Anyone with information on Hill's whereabouts is asked to contact Peel police or Crime Stoppers.
