Peel Regional Police have identified the suspect in a hit-and-run investigation that left a pedestrian injured when a vehicle being pursued by police drove onto a sidewalk.

Jerome Jackson, 26, of Brampton, is wanted in connection to the incident, which occurred near Hurontario Street and Burnhamthorpe Road, Tuesday night.

Peel police allege that officers attempted to stop the suspect as he was driving in the area. The suspect fled the scene by driving onto a sidewalk and striking a pedestrian.

The 46-year-old man who was struck was taken to St. Michael’s Hospital with head injuries, internal injuries and a fractured leg.

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating what happened during the collision.

Peel Regional Police say the suspect was operating a black 2007 Lincoln MKX SUV with Ontario licence plate “BNBA718.”

Anyone who sees the vehicle, or Jackson, is urged not to approach it and contact 911.
