KAWARTHA LAKES, Ont. -- Provincial police say they're investigating an alleged theft of an antique canoe from a home in Kawartha Lakes, Ont.

They allege the theft took place sometime between the evening of Aug. 28 and 6 a.m. the following morning.

Police allege at least one suspect broke the padlock on the door of a shop located on a residential property in the city.

Once inside, police allege the suspects made off with a 4.6-metre red cedar canoe, four seats and other canoeing equipment.

They did not estimate the value of the boat but describe it as an antique.

Anyone with information on the alleged theft is being asked to come forward.
