One dead after crash on QEW near Stoney Creek: OPP

One person is dead after two vehicles collided on the QEW near Stoney Creek this morning.

The crash occurred at around 5 a.m. in the Fort Erie-bound lanes of the highway near Fruitland Road.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says it appears one of the vehicles was heading the wrong way on the highway when the crash took place.

All Fort Erie-bound lanes of the highway were closed at Fruitland Road for several hours but the lanes have since reopened.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
