TORONTO - A corrections officer is accused of trying to smuggle booze and drugs into a Toronto jail.

Police say the suspect brought a package containing alcohol, tobacco, lighters, rolling papers and marijuana to Toronto's West Detention Centre on Tuesday.

They also allege he carried tablets of the prescription pain killer OxyContin.

Police say they obtained a warrant to search his home and found marijuana, cocaine, money and oxycodone, the substance that makes up OxyContin.

Adam Bertoli, 33, of Milton, faces five charges, including possession of marijuana for trafficking purposes and possession of the proceeds of crime.

He appeared in court Tuesday.
