A young man is dead and several people are in police custody after a shooting in west-end Toronto Wednesday night.

Police say they are looking to speak to witnesses who were around the Vaughan and Oakwood Roads neighbourhood at around 8:30 p.m. That's when 18-year-old Robert Flagiello was shot in the abdomen outside of a barber shop in an alleyway.

He was without vital signs when paramedics arrived on the scene and was pronounced dead a short time later in hospital.

The victim is said to have lived in the area with his mother.

At least three men were taken into custody at the scene but police say they are being held for questioning and that no charges have been laid in the case.

Investigators also questioned about 15 potential witnesses who were eating inside an adjacent Caribbean restaurant when the shooting occurred.

The shooting is the second in the area in the past week. On Tuesday, two teens were shot outside Starbank Convenience Mart, located on Eglinton West near Dufferin Street. They are expected to survive their injuries.

The murder is also the sixth homicide in Toronto in the last 10 days and the city's 51st murder of the year.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the city's homicide squad at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS.
