Two young men are in hospital with stab and gunshot wounds respectively following a fight between two groups in the Don Mills Road and Highway 401 area.

It isn't clear what sparked the dispute on Wednesday afternoon on Graydon Hall Drive not from George S. Henry Academy. About 100 youths were involved.

In the shooting incident, police from 33 Division say that two young men stepped out and met in the middle of the street. The victim was shot twice, taking one bullet in the back.

During the pandemonium that followed, a second teen was stabbed in the back.

"I was standing with everyone in the crowd, and then you just hear 'pop, pop,' and then everyone just runs away," said Ahmed Dauda. "Ten minutes later, five minutes later, we hear cops' sirens and stuff."

Landscaper Pete Cobb was working in the area and was shocked by what he saw.

"We pulled up on our machines while we were working on the job site, and about 100 kids ran by me. And a young guy, with dark hair and dark clothing, came by with a gun shooting at all the kids coming down the street."

The two wounded individuals were taken to hospital. The stabbing victim's injuries are believed to be relatively minor. Reports were mixed on the shooting victim. He was initially thought to be in critical, life-threatening condition, but has since stabilized.

Police have set up a command post in the area. They say those who participated in the fight aren't being co-operative, but some members of the public who witnessed events are helping out.

There are no suspect descriptions yet and no arrests have been made.
