TORONTO - Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty is being coy about whether an opposition member is likely to join the Liberals in order give his party a majority mandate.

The premier says he's honoured to have won 53 seats in the provincial election even though that puts him one short of a majority, and adds he isn't counting on any movement across the legislature floor.

Asked whether he has ruled out the possibility altogether McGuinty declined to answer, however, saying it wasn't something he wanted to speculate on.

Such a move would have to happen ahead of Thursday's cabinet shuffle, since the Liberals are most likely to try to entice interested members with a cabinet post.

McGuinty has yet to reveal his plans for the new Liberal cabinet, saying only it will be smaller than in the past and will have a large focus on education and the economy.

He also promised to work well with the opposition in his new minority situation, saying there will be a call for more collaboration among members of all parties.
