The family of a young woman who was laid to rest on Monday is still searching for answers a week after she was fatally shot at a downtown Toronto nightclub.

Ariela Navarro-Fenoy was remembered in a Monday morning funeral, where her family members spoke publicly for the first time about the 26-year-old's death.

"I have so many questions. I need answers right now," Navarro-Fenoy's father, Victor, told reporters while trying to hold back tears outside of a west-end Toronto funeral home.

Navarro-Fenoy was shot just north of the Dufferin Gate early Aug. 4, as she and a friend walked away from a club on the Exhibition Grounds. Navarro-Fenoy had been attending an OVO Fest after-party at Muzik nightclub, hosted by Toronto-born rapper Drake.

Duvel Hibbert, 23, was also fatally wounded in the shooting. Three others were taken to hospital as a result of the shooting.

"My sister Ariela was a beautiful girl inside and out, that would do anything for her family and friends," Navarro-Fenoy's sister Aluen told reporters through tears.

"She was a free spirit and lived life to the fullest. She was really special and we're going to miss her so much."

Friends, family and strangers came together to raise $25,130 through an online fundraising website set up on GoFundMe.com to cover the costs of the aspiring makeup artist's funeral.

Hundreds of people attended the service at St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church, located at 3251 Weston Rd., just north of Sheppard Avenue.

A visitation will be held for Hibbert at the Brampton Funeral Home and Cemetery at 10061 Chinguacousy Rd., at Bovaird Drive West, on Friday, Aug. 28 starting at 4 p.m. Hibbery's funeral will be held the next day at 11 a.m.

Family and friends are trying to raise money to cover the funeral costs on a webpage dedicated to Hibbert's memory. As of Monday morning, $2,543 had been raised by 60 people.

The shooting that claimed the lives of Navarro-Fenoy and Hibbert is still under investigation, police said Monday.

Toronto Police Insp. Peter Moreira said they are struggling with a lack of witnesses, despite how many people were present at the time of the shooting.

He said he is hopeful that friends of the victims will come forward and provide further information. Moreira added that police have obtained security footage, but that the video captured hasn't revealed as much as they'd expected.

Police said two persons of interest have been identified so far, but they have not specified what they believe their role in the shooting may be.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1400, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477 (TIPS). They have also set up a website where witnesses can upload photos and videos taken at the club.
