All eastbound lanes of Highway 401 have been reopened at Trafalgar Road in Milton following a fatal collision on Tuesday morning.
A car and a flatbed truck collided on the highway near Winston Churchill Boulevard at approximately 9 a.m.
Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said that a female passenger died in the collision. Her age and identity have not been released.
The male driver of the car is also being treated for critical injuries after being rushed to hospital via Ornge air ambulance.
The lanes were closed until noon as crews cleared debris and investigated the cause of the crash.
