Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for the Niagara region.

The weather agency warned winds will reach 60 km/h at times with gusts up to 80 km/h on Saturday.

The high winds are expected to last throughout the day into the evening and will mostly hit communities next to the lower great lakes.

The winds will come from an intensifying low pressure system near North Bay.

"These strong winds have already developed over northeastern Lake Erie and will continue to affect communities from Long Point to Port Dover to Fort Erie for the remainder of today," the advisory said.

The damaging winds will affect the Dunville, Caledonia, Haldimand, Simcoe, Delhi and Norfolk communities.
